Lamontville Golden Arrows and Stellenbosch played out a 1–1 draw at King Zwelithini Stadium, on Wednesday evening and shared the spoils after a competitive encounter.

The hosts created the first real chance in the 17th minute, but Sage Stephens produced a save to deny Arrows an early opener.

Stellenbosch responded in the 22nd minute through Tshegofatso Mabasa, whose effort was well dealt with by Maova.

Mabasa came close again in the 35th minute, but his free header went wide as the sides went into the break level.

Golden Arrows made a triple substitution at half-time, introducing Gasa, Madonsela and Sithole as they looked to gain control in midfield.

The breakthrough came in the 77th minute when substitute Gasa capitalised on a mistake from Stephens to give Arrows the lead.

However, Stellenbosch responded just two minutes later, with substitute Genino Palace finding the equaliser to ensure the spoils were shared.

The result sees Golden Arrows move to eighth place on the league table, while Stellenbosch sit in tenth position.

Looking ahead, Stellenbosch will host Chippa United on 21 March, while Golden Arrows welcome Sekhukhune United on 22 March as both sides look to build on this result.
