Petro de Luanda delivered a commanding offensive performance to defeat Al Ahly (Libya) 104–90 in an entertaining Basketball Africa League (BAL) encounter.

Petro set the tone early and never looked back, showcasing clinical shooting and fluid ball movement to outclass their Libyan opponents. Their efficiency from the field proved decisive, as they consistently found high-quality scoring opportunities and converted them at a much higher rate.

The Angolan side dominated inside the arc, repeatedly breaking down Al Ahly’s defense with strong finishes in the paint. They also capitalised from beyond the arc, knocking down key perimeter shots to stretch the floor and maintain control of the game.

Despite the loss, Al Ahly showed resilience on the boards, winning the rebound battle 40–28, including an impressive 20 offensive rebounds. However, their inability to convert second-chance opportunities and overall struggles in front of the basket ultimately cost them.

Petro’s superior teamwork was evident, registering 26 assists compared to Al Ahly’s 13, highlighting their cohesive and unselfish attacking play. Defensively, they also made an impact with 14 steals and five blocks, disrupting Al Ahly’s rhythm throughout the contest.

Al Ahly found some success at the free-throw line with 24 made shots, but Petro’s overall dominance in open play ensured they remained in control for most of the game.

The victory reinforces Petro de Luanda’s status as one of the top contenders in this year’s BAL, while Al Ahly will need to regroup quickly as the competition intensifies.
