Magesi FC delivered a clinical attacking performance to defeat Durban City FC 5-2 in an entertaining clash at Seshego Stadium on Sunday evening.

The home side made a flying start, with Mcedi Vandala opening the scoring in the 8th minute. Durban City responded almost immediately through Jean Lubumba in the 11th minute, but Magesi quickly reasserted control. Godfrey Mashigo restored the lead in the 13th minute before Lehlogonolo Mokone added a third just five minutes later.

Lubumba completed his brace in the 26th minute to keep the visitors within touching distance heading into halftime, but Magesi proved too strong after the break. Kgothatso Mariba extended the lead in the 64th minute, and Vandala wrapped up the scoring with his second goal of the match in the 77th minute.

The victory lifts Magesi to 20 points, moving them out of the relegation zone on superior goal difference to Marumo Gallants FC. Dikwena tša Meetse will now turn their attention to a tough away fixture against TS Galaxy FC in Mbombela on Sunday, 26 April 2026.

Meanwhile, Durban City remain in sixth position on the table and will look to bounce back when they host Orbit College FC on Friday, 24 April.
