The South African Football Association (SAFA) has dismissed reports claiming that Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has been offered or signed a one-year contract extension.
In a statement, SAFA described the reports as “false, unfounded and misleading”, clarifying that Broos remains under contract until the end of July 2026 under his existing agreement.
The association said no decision has been taken regarding the Bafana Bafana head coach position, with governance processes still ongoing. It added that no contract has been approved or issued by the National Executive Committee.
SAFA also criticised media reports citing unnamed sources, saying they create unnecessary speculation and mislead the public. The association urged media houses to seek official comment before publishing claims relating to its affairs.
SAFA said it will announce any decisions regarding the Bafana Bafana technical team once its internal processes have been concluded.
