𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐀𝐅 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe has reiterated that he has no intention of remaining in office beyond his second term, saying African football will continue to thrive under new leadership.

Speaking to the media, Motsepe made it clear that no one will convince him to extend his stay as CAF President.

“𝐍𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐀𝐅. 𝐈’𝐦 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐛.”

The South African football administrator stressed the importance of leadership renewal, adding that fresh ideas are essential for the continued growth of the game across the continent.

Motsepe also expressed confidence in the future of African football beyond his presidency.

“𝐂𝐀𝐅 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈’𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞.”

The 64-year-old, who was first elected CAF President in 2021 and re-elected for a second term, said his priority remains serving African football during the remainder of his mandate before handing over to the next generation of leadership.
