Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with defender Bongani Sam after just one season at the club. He leaves without him making a single competitive appearance.

Sam joined Amakhosi from Orlando Pirates in July 2024 but struggled to break into the team, even when injuries hit the left-back position. With two years still left on his contract, the club opted to release him as part of a broader squad reshuffle under coach Nasreddine Nabi.

“After just one season, Kaizer Chiefs have amicably agreed to part ways with defender Bongani Sam….
.. Wishing Bongani all the best.”

He follows players like Edmilson Dove, Tebogo Potsane, Ranga Chivaviro, Sabelo Radebe, Edson Castillo and Mduduzi Mdantsane out the door. Chiefs have since brought in Paseka Mako and Nkanyiso Shinga to reinforce that left-back position.

At 28, Sam will now be looking for a fresh start elsewhere, to revive his career.
