Richards Bay Football Club has announced a venue change for their opening 2025/26 Betway Premiership fixture against Marumo Gallants, originally scheduled for Saturday, 9 August 2025 at uMhlathuze Stadium.

In an official statement released on 4 August, the club revealed that heavy rainfall during last weekend’s KZN Premier’s Cup caused significant damage to the uMhlathuze Stadium playing surface. The conditions have rendered the pitch unplayable and in need of immediate remedial work, prompting the decision to move the match to a different venue.

“The City of uMhlathuze and the contractor are working around the clock to ensure that the surface is more than ready for our second home game against Chippa United on 26 August 2025,” the club stated.

While the new venue for the Marumo Gallants match has yet to be announced, the club extended its apologies to fans who had eagerly anticipated seeing the team in action at home.

“We could not allow further damage to the playing surface,” the club emphasized.

Further updates regarding the new venue are expected in the coming days.
