Cape Town City have announced the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo as they gear up for life in the Motsepe Foundation Championship following their relegation from the Betway Premiership.
The 30-year-old, who was crowned PSL Defender of the Season in 2020/21 during his spell with Swallows FC, brings invaluable top-flight experience to the Mother City outfit. Renowned for his composure in possession, aerial dominance, and tactical reading of the game, Ngcobo is expected to be a cornerstone in City’s defensive setup this season.
“We are delighted to announce the signing of defender, Njabulo Ngcobo” – Said Cape Town City
Under the guidance of Head Coach Jan Vreman, the Citizens are determined to secure an immediate return to the Betway Premiership. The signing of Ngcobo is seen as a statement of intent, adding leadership, experience, and steel to a squad aiming to compete strongly in the second tier.
For Ngcobo, the move offers both a fresh challenge and an opportunity to play a leading role in City’s promotion bid, as the club and its supporters set their sights on reclaiming top-flight status.
