Kaizer Chiefs rediscovered their scoring touch in the Betway Premiership with an emphatic 4–1 victory over Orbit College at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Glamour Boys showed their intent from the first whistle, taking the lead just four minutes into the match. Mduduzi Shabalala opened the scoring after a superb cross from Thabiso Monyane found him unmarked in the box. Chiefs dominated possession for much of the first half but went into the break with only a 1–0 advantage.
After the restart, Shabalala continued his fine form, netting his second goal of the night to give Amakhosi a 2–0 lead. Orbit College, however, refused to roll over, as Lukhele pulled one back with a well-timed header to make it 2–1.
Any hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed when young sensation Mfundo Vilakazi extended Chiefs’ lead to 3–1 with a composed finish. In the closing moments, Flávio Silva added a fourth, sealing a dominant performance for the Soweto giants.
Shabalala’s brace earned him the Man of the Match award for his outstanding contribution on the night, as Kaizer Chiefs showed glimpses of their attacking flair that fans have been longing to see.
