A heartfelt appreciation to the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) tournament organisers and the Stadium Management within the Polokwane Municipality for hosting a truly exceptional Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Championship 2025 in Polokwane.
From the opening day on 18 February until the final on 01 March 2026, the tournament was executed with outstanding professionalism and care. Bringing together national teams from across the Southern African region, the competition once again showcased the growth and strength of women’s football in our region.
Congratulations to Namibia women’s national football team for making history by being crowned champions for the very first time after defeating South Africa women’s national football team 2–1 in a thrilling final. It was a remarkable achievement, especially considering that Namibia’s last appearance in the final was in 2006, where they finished as runners-up against Banyana Banyana. This victory marks a significant milestone for Namibian football and the region at large.
From day one, the COSAFA leadership and officials were welcoming and ensured the tournament ran smoothly, with teams, officials, and guests well taken care of throughout. COSAFA continued to prove that it is more than just a tournament, it is a platform that celebrates legends of the game while creating opportunities for the next generation.
It was inspiring to see former players such as Pinky Matjekane and Rhoda Mulaudzi serving as tournament ambassadors, alongside experienced figures like Jacky Motshegwa, formerly of Bloemfontein Celtics F.C, contributing to the success of the event.
Special appreciation also goes to the stadium management, particularly Mr. Matome Lebea, for ensuring that operations at the Seshego Stadium, Old & New Peter Mokaba Stadiums were seamless and that everyone enjoyed a world-class football experience.
We also extend gratitude to members of the media, especially those from Limpopo, including Lethabo Kganyago. Your coverage amplified the impact of the championship and brought the excitement to a wider audience.

Polokwane and Limpopo Province have once again demonstrated their capability to host international football events with excellence.
