Relebohile Mofokeng stole the spotlight at the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League (PSL) Awards after claiming three of the evening’s biggest honours, capping off a sensational campaign for both himself and Orlando Pirates.
The 21-year-old, who recently secured a move abroad following an outstanding season with the Buccaneers, was crowned PSL Footballer of the Season, while also collecting the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season and Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season awards.
Fresh from lifting the Betway Premiership title, Orlando Pirates dominated the major awards on the night. Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was named Betway Premiership Coach of the Season, while Sipho Chaine won Goalkeeper of the Season, Lebone Seema claimed Defender of the Season.
Oswin Appollis was named Midfielder of the Season, and Camren Dansin received the Goal of the Season award. Tshepang Moremi was recognised as the MTN8 Last Man Standing, while Mbekezeli Mbokazi walked away with the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament accolade.
The ceremony also paid tribute to the late Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams. PSL Chairman Dr Irvin Khoza observed a moment of silence before presenting the PSL Chairman’s Award posthumously in Adams’ honour.
The emotional tribute came just days after the midfielder was laid to rest in Stellenbosch on Saturday, recognising his contribution to South African football and celebrating the legacy of one of the country’s brightest talents, whose untimely passing left the football fraternity in mourning.
Durban City’s veteran goalkeeper Darren Keet capped off his final season in professional football by winning the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament award for his instrumental role in the club’s successful cup run. TS Galaxy’s Seluleko Mahlambi was named the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament.
Cape Town City dominated the Motsepe Foundation Championship awards, with Emile Witbooi earning Players’ Player of the Season, Gabriel Amato taking Young Player of the Season, and Mickey van der Hart being named Goalkeeper of the Season.
The Championship’s Top Goalscorer award was shared by Ntuthuko Mlotshwa of Lerumo Lions and Ronaldo van Neel of Hungry Lions.
In the DStv Diski Challenge, Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Bennet Mokoena enjoyed a memorable evening after winning both the Player of the Season and Top Goalscorer awards.
Match officials were also recognised, with Eugene Mdluli named PSL Referee of the Season and Nandipha Menze receiving the Assistant Referee of the Season award.
Lamontville Golden Arrows striker Sede Junior Dion finished as the Betway Premiership Top Goalscorer.
