Elim-based Mpheni Defenders have made a major statement by signing former Orlando Pirates midfielder Meshack Maphangule as part of an ambitious squad overhaul ahead of their Limpopo ABC Motsepe League campaign.
Defenders, who have twice reached the National Playoffs but narrowly missed out on promotion, have also added Thulani Mabizela, Mpimo Maswanganyi, Masilakhe Phohlongo, and welcomed back former TTM and Munaca left back Khathutshelo Rumani.
Another key return sees goalkeeper Radimana Munyai, who previously led the side to the 2024 National Playoffs in Upington, rejoining the squad.
With Maphangule’s top-flight experience and a strengthened roster, Mpheni Defenders are aiming to finally clinch promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
