Cape Town City have added two key reinforcements to their squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, unveiling Dutch goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart and left-back Sifiso Ngobeni as their latest signings.
Van der Hart, 30, brings top-flight European experience from his time in the Dutch Eredivisie with clubs like Ajax and PEC Zwolle. His arrival is seen as a major boost to City’s defensive structure as they look to solidify their backline in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Ngobeni, who previously played for Mamelodi Sundowns, adds pace and balance on the left side of defence. The 27-year-old is expected to play a central role in helping the club regain its identity and drive forward in what will be a highly competitive second-tier football.
Following their relegation, Cape Town City saw the departure of several key players, including long-serving stalwarts Thabo Nodada and Thamsanqa Mkhize. Other notable exits include Fortune Makaringe, Darwin González, Aprocius Petrus, Darren Keet, Lorenzo Gordinho, Hashim Domingo, Elson Sithole, and Kamohelo Mokotjo, signalling a significant squad overhaul as the club begins a new chapter.
City will determined to make an immediate return to the top flight. The signings of Van der Hart and Ngobeni underline the club’s intent to mount a serious promotion challenge under newly appointed head coach Jan Vreman.
