The South African Football Association (SAFA) has dismissed reports claiming that Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has left his position, describing the claims as false.
SAFA confirmed that Broos remains in charge of the senior men’s national team despite speculation linking him with a departure. The association noted that this is not the first time the Belgian tactician has been the subject of exit rumours following Bafana Bafana’s success on the international stage.
The latest speculation comes after Broos guided South Africa to a historic first-ever FIFA World Cup knockout stage appearance at the 2026 tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Bafana secured qualification to the Round of 32 after defeating South Korea 1-0 in their final group match in Monterrey, Mexico.
Broos is currently on leave in his home country of Belgium and is expected to return to South Africa later this month to continue his duties with Bafana Bafana.
