Mamelodi Sundowns took a major step toward the semifinals of the CAF Champions League with a convincing 3-0 victory over Stade Malien in the first leg of their quarterfinal clash.
Defender Khuliso Mudau opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, netting his first goal of the season to give the hosts a first-half advantage.
Sundowns continued their dominance after the break as Brazilian striker Brayan León doubled the lead in the 53rd minute. Forward Iqraam Rayners sealed the result in the 73rd minute with a third goal to cap off a commanding performance.
Sundowns, who were finalists in last season’s competition where they lost to Egyptian side Pyramids FC, will take the three-goal advantage into the second leg.
The return leg will be played on Sunday, 22 March 2026, at Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako, Mali, with kickoff scheduled for 18:00 SAST.
