TS Galaxy kept their Nedbank Cup dream alive after overcoming ABC Motsepe League side Jacksa Spears in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

Galaxy entered the clash as clear favourites, but Spears showed determination and resilience despite the gulf in experience between the two sides. The visitors, playing their first ever competitive match against top-flight opposition, defended bravely and looked to frustrate the hosts early in the game.

The Rockets dominated possession from the opening whistle, using their pace and attacking movement to stretch the Spears defence. However, the lower-league side remained disciplined at the back, forcing Galaxy to be patient in their search for a breakthrough.

As the match progressed, the pressure from Galaxy eventually paid off as they found the back of the net, breaking the resistance of Spears and taking control of the contest. The goal shifted the momentum firmly in favour of the home side, who continued pushing forward to secure the result.

Despite their efforts, Jacksa Spears struggled to create clear scoring opportunities against the Premiership outfit. TS Galaxy maintained their defensive shape while continuing to threaten on the counter-attack.

In the end, the Betway Premiership side did enough to see out the match and book their place in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals, keeping alive their hopes of lifting the famous trophy once again. Galaxy famously won the competition in 2019, becoming the first second-tier club to achieve the feat.

For Jacksa Spears, the defeat marked the end of a historic cup run. The amateur side had already exceeded expectations by reaching the quarter-final stage, defeating fellow lower-division teams in earlier rounds to reach this stage of the competition.

TS Galaxy will now shift their focus to the semi-finals, where they will aim to continue their impressive cup run and move one step closer to another Nedbank Cup final appearance.
