Richards Bay were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Marumo Gallants in a Betway Premiership clash at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Natal Rich Boyz made a dream start to the encounter when Gallants defender Sikhosana turned the ball into his own net in the 10th minute following a costly miscommunication at the back, with the header ending up beyond his own goalkeeper.
Marumo gallants momentum was interrupted midway through the first half after Mhlongo was forced off due to injury in the 30th minute, with Khumalo introduced as his replacement.
Gallants pushed for a response after the break and eventually found the equaliser in the 60th minute through Mabuza, who ensured the hosts walked away with a share of the spoils.
Richards Bay searched for a late winner, but Gallants remained compact defensively as the match ended level at full time.
In other two matches played consecutively on Saturday afternoon, Orbit College and AmaZulu played out to a goalless draw at Olympia Stadium.
Meanwhile, Golden Arrows and Polokwane City also shared the points in a 0-0 stalemate at King Zwelithini Stadium, despite Polokwane City being reduced to ten men in the opening 30 minutes after Matuludi was shown a red card.
