The semi-final draw for the Nedbank Cup has produced two intriguing clashes that pit KwaZulu-Natal against Mpumalanga, while also setting up a battle between the Betway Premiership and the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

In the first semi-final, Mpumalanga-based TS Galaxy, who compete in the Betway Premiership, will face KwaZulu-Natal’s Motsepe Foundation Championship side Milford FC. Milford booked their place in the last four after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over top-flight side Sekhukhune United in the quarter-finals.

The second semi-final will see KwaZulu-Natal’s Betway Premiership outfit Durban City take on Mpumalanga-based Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars. Casric Stars have been one of the tournament’s standout performers, eliminating two Premiership teams on their route to the semi-finals, first defeating Orlando Pirates and then knocking out AmaZulu FC in the quarter-finals.

Interestingly, among the four remaining teams, only TS Galaxy have previously lifted the Nedbank Cup. The Mpumalanga side famously won the 2019 title after stunning Kaizer Chiefs in the final.

With two second-tier sides still in contention and already proving capable of upsetting top-flight opposition, the possibility of an all-Motsepe Foundation Championship final cannot be ruled out.

Dates, venues and kick-off times for the semi-finals are yet to be confirmed.
