Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Willard Katsande has been appointed as the new head coach of Zimbabwe’s Northern Region Division One Side, Rangers FC. The appointment comes shortly after Katsande successfully completed his CAF C coaching licence, marking the start of a new chapter in his football career.

Katsande arrived in Zimbabwe this morning to begin his tenure and expressed his excitement about the opportunity during an interview on Energy FM with BK Matewee.

Speaking about his coaching philosophy, Katsande said he draws inspiration from some of the world’s top coaches, many of whom have a defensive or midfield background. He emphasised his commitment to playing an attractive attacking style of football while maintaining defensive discipline and organisation at the back.

The move was facilitated by his agent, Kuda Garufu, who played a key role in securing the opportunity. In a separate interview on Energy FM, Garufu described Rangers FC as a promising club and said its philosophy and structure align well with Katsande’s approach. He expressed confidence that Katsande’s experience and tactical insight will help guide the team toward success.

Rangers FC supporters will now be eager to see how Katsande implements his vision as he begins his journey in the dugout.
