The Johannesburg Giants suffered a tough 102–89 defeat to RSSB Tigers in a Basketball Africa League Kalahari Conference encounter, as the Tigers delivered a strong second-half performance to secure victory.

The Giants started brightly, showing attacking intent in the opening quarter. Their offensive rhythm saw them edge the first period 27–25, with fluid ball movement and confident shooting keeping them narrowly ahead.

However, the Tigers quickly settled into the contest in the second quarter. Tightened defence and improved shot selection allowed them to outscore the Giants 24–20 in the period, taking a slender halftime lead and shifting momentum in their favour.

Coming out of the break, both sides exchanged baskets in a competitive third quarter. The Giants remained within touching distance, but the Tigers maintained their composure and discipline, edging the period 25–24 to keep their advantage intact heading into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter proved decisive. RSSB Tigers raised the intensity on both ends of the floor, capitalising on turnovers and converting key scoring opportunities. Their dominance down the stretch saw them outscore the Giants 28–18, ultimately sealing a convincing 102–89 win.

The result continues a strong run for RSSB Tigers in the Kalahari Conference, underlining their credentials as serious contenders. For the Johannesburg Giants, the defeat highlights areas for improvement, particularly in closing out games and maintaining consistency across all four quarters.

The Giants will now look to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming fixtures, while the Tigers build momentum as the competition progresses.
