AmaZulu FC became the first team to secure a place in the 2026 KZN Premier’s Cup final after defeating Midlands Wanderers 2-0 in the first semi-final at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Usuthu made the perfect start, with Mlondi Mbanjwa opening the scoring in the sixth minute to put his side ahead early in the contest.

AmaZulu doubled their advantage in the 26th minute through Thando Ngwenya, taking firm control of the match before the half-hour mark.

Despite their comfortable lead, Usuthu were reduced to 10 men four minutes later when goalscorer Mbanjwa was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on Midlands Wanderers’ Mokone.

Midlands Wanderers were unable to capitalise on the numerical advantage, as AmaZulu produced a disciplined defensive display to see out a 2-0 victory.

The result sends Usuthu through to the KZN Premier’s Cup final, where they will face the winner of the uMhlathuze Derby between Richards Bay FC and Milford FC.
