Marumo Gallants head coach Phuti Mohafe believes his side are showing signs of improvement despite their winless start to the Betway Premiership season.
Gallants suffered their second defeat of the campaign on Wednesday night, going down 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld.
Despite the result, Mohafe was encouraged by the opportunities his side created, but admitted that their failure to convert those chances remains a major concern.
We created opportunities, but we couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net,” Mohafe told SuperSport after the match.
We had the ball, not so much, but we created opportunities. We still missed the chances we created. I thought Sikhakhane’s set-piece was going in, just next to the post, and we also had two opportunities from set-pieces through Otladisa.”
Mohafe believes Gallants’ next step is to become more clinical in front of goal as they look to turn their performances into positive results.
“I think we just need to put the ball in the back of the net. We need the luck as much as any other team, but we have to focus more and more on scoring,” he added.
