Bafana Bafana claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Guinea in their CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 encounter on Monday afternoon, keeping their campaign on track.

Neo Maema opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finishing a slick attacking move to give South Africa the early advantage. Guinea, however, hit back before the break, with Camara finding the equaliser in the 37th minute to send the teams into halftime locked at 1-1.

The decisive moment came nine minutes after the restart when Thabiso Kutumela showed great composure to slot home in the 54th minute, restoring Bafana’s lead and ultimately sealing the win.

The result sees South Africa climb to second place in Group C with four points from two matches, level with leaders Algeria but trailing on goal difference. Uganda sit third with three points, while Guinea also have three points but have played a game more, and Niger remain bottom without a point.
