Kaizer Chiefs delivered a composed all-round performance to secure a 2–0 victory over TS Galaxy in an eventful Betway Premiership clash at FNB Stadium on Sunday Afternoon .
AmaKhosi broke the deadlock in the 35th minute through Flávio Silva, who finished confidently after a well-crafted attacking move set up by Mduduzi Shabalala.
Both sides made early changes in the second half. TS Galaxy introduced Mvelase for Moletshe, while Chiefs replaced Wandile Duba with Asanele Velebhayi in the 59th minute.
The match was briefly halted in the 64th minute due to inclement weather and issues with the stadium lighting. However, when play resumed, AmaKhosi quickly regained control of proceedings.
Chiefs continued to dominate, and in the 73rd minute, goal-scorer Flávio Silva made way for Sibongiseni Mthethwa ,a substitution that paid immediate dividends. Just a minute later, Glody Lilepo doubled the lead, calmly finishing in the 74th minute after an assist from Mthethwa.
TS Galaxy were forced into another change following an injury to Solomon Letsoenyo, who was replaced by Mory Keita.
Kaizer Chiefs made further substitutions in the 82nd minute, introducing Mfundo Vilakazi for Lebohang Maboe and Khanyisa Mayo for Lilepo to help see out the match.
TS Galaxy also made late adjustments in the 84th minute, with Siphesihle Maduna replaced by Mehdi Ouamri, while Siphamandla Ngwenya made way for Nhlanhla Mgaga.
Speaking after their previous match against Orbit College, a Kaizer Chiefs striker emphasized the team’s ambition to finish in the top two of the Betway Premiership standings:
We have to win all our remaining games. If we do that, there’s hope we can finish in the top two or three.
The victory strengthens Chiefs’ push near the top of the table, keeping them firmly in the top three, while TS Galaxy remain in the lower half. Chiefs’ sharp finishing, tactical discipline, and impactful substitutions ultimately proved decisive, even in challenging conditions.
Looking ahead, Chiefs will travel to Polokwane as they aim to maintain their winning streak against Magesi FC on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, TS Galaxy will look to bounce back when they host Richards Bay FC on 19 April 2026.
