Polokwane City head coach Boyano Moloto has addressed the recent absence of Bafana Bafana defender Thabang Matuludi from his matchday squads this season.
Moloto has dismissed reports that the player is trying to force a move away from the club, as he’s yet to feature for Rise and Shine in this new campaign.
The 27-year-old defender has been a subject of interest to Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in the recent transfer window, but nothing materialised so far.
Matuludi missed the first match against Richards Bay due to suspension, and he wasn’t in the squad in their MTN8 quarter-final defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns and again in Tuesday’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Stellenbosch FC.
However, Moloto insisted that it’s a matter of continuity and not altering the winning.
There’s no such. Every time when people don’t see a player then they say – “no, no, no,” he replied when asked about Matuludi’s whereabouts.
Remember, Matuludi was with Bafana Bafana, and he got some knock in training, and the team has been doing so well. For him, he will get his chance, there are a lot of games.
Let’s give the younger [Surprise Mathonsi] a chance, he did well even though he made some mistakes in the first half, but he managed to equalise for us, and he managed to stabilise at the back.
Remember, in the first game Matuludi was suspended. Then when he came back, we just came back from a win, so you cannot change a team from a win,” he added.
And you look at us when we were playing Sundowns, we did well, so I just have to say, let me have continuity in the team.”And it has to come up to freshen the team, maybe who knows I might use him over the weekend.”
