Orlando Pirates produced a ruthless attacking display as they cruised to a commanding 5-0 victory over Golden Arrows in a one-sided encounter.
From the onset, Pirates imposed themselves with intensity and precision, quickly taking control of proceedings. Their early dominance paid off in the 16th minute when Relebohile Mofokeng opened the scoring, finishing off a well-worked move assisted by Tshepang Moremi.
The hosts doubled their advantage in the 30th minute through Oswin Appollis, who calmly slotted home after being set up by Deon Hotto. Just six minutes later, Pirates extended their lead further when an unfortunate own goal by Ebandla Maova made it 3-0 heading into halftime.
There was no let-up from Pirates in the second half as they continued to press forward with purpose. In the 61st minute, Mofokeng completed his brace with a composed finish to make it 4-0. Despite multiple substitutions from both sides, Golden Arrows struggled to contain the relentless Pirates attack.
The final blow came deep into stoppage time when Appollis netted his second goal of the night, sealing an emphatic 5-0 victory.
This dominant display highlights Orlando Pirates’ attacking depth and clinical edge as they continue to build momentum, sending a strong message to the rest of the league.
Pirates will now turn their attention to their next assignment as they travel to KwaZulu-Natal to face Richards Bay on Friday, 10 April, hoping to leapfrog Mamelodi Sundowns to the summit of the Betway Premiership table.
