South Africa’s top aspiring padel players will compete this weekend for the opportunity to earn their place at the inaugural Pretoria Premier Padel P1, the country’s first-ever Premier Padel tournament.
Taking place at Net Set Padel, Sandton City, from 12 to 14 June 2026, the Road to Premier Padel Pretoria P1 will feature a Wildcard Tournament, where leading local players will battle for coveted places in the tournament draw, alongside the official Ball Kid Trials, which will identify young athletes to serve on the tournament’s ball kid team.
Media and fans can expect the action to culminate on Sunday, 14 June, when the tournament finals will determine the wildcard winners, while the final ball kid selections will also be made following assessments of participants’ fitness, teamwork, professionalism and court awareness.
The initiative forms part of preparations for Pretoria Premier Padel P1, which will be held from 26 July to 2 August 2026. The event will bring many of the world’s top padel players to South Africa, marking a historic milestone as the first Premier Padel tournament to be staged in the country and on the African continent.
Organisers say the weekend will not only provide a pathway for South Africa’s emerging players to compete on the international stage but will also give young athletes the opportunity to experience a world-class sporting event from inside the court, highlighting the continued growth of padel across the country.
