AmaZulu have welcomed back midfielder Sphelele Maduna, with the 26-year-old returning to the club as Arthur Zwane’s side continues to strengthen its squad early in the 2026/27 season.
Maduna, who was born in Ladysmith, previously represented AmaZulu during the 2022/23 campaign after coming through the club’s system and making his professional breakthrough with Usuthu. Following his departure, the midfielder went on to feature for Cape Town Spurs and TS Galaxy before making his return to the club where his professional journey began.
The midfielder expressed his excitement at returning to AmaZulu and once again wearing the club’s famous green and white colours. Maduna also highlighted his desire to contribute towards the team’s ambitions for the new campaign.
“I’m glad to be back at AmaZulu Football Club, a club that gave me an opportunity to play professional football. I’m excited to wear the green and white colours again and look forward to playing a part in achieving the team’s dreams and goals this season,” Maduna said.
His return adds further depth and experience to AmaZulu’s midfield as the Durban-based club looks to build on a fourth-place finish in the Betway Premiership last season. With the 2026/27 campaign now underway, Maduna will be hoping to play an important role as Usuthu push for another strong season.
