The Limpopo government says it is confident the province will continue attracting major sporting events, as Polokwane readies itself to host the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup final between Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
This is the first time since 2016 that Limpopo hosts a national cup final, and demand has been overwhelming, with all tickets selling out in two hours.
Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba says the province has implemented extensive security measures to manage the expected capacity crowd.

“We met regularly to ensure there are no mistakes in terms of security,” Ramathuba said. “Tickets were sold out in two hours, which shows how passionate our people are about football. Many usually buy tickets at the last minute, but this time they’re all gone. That’s why we need a strong and reliable security system to ensure everything runs smoothly.”
Limpopo police have also issued a stern warning against illegal ticket resale. Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba said officers will be on high alert around the stadium.

“We will monitor any unlawful activities. We don’t want anyone near the stadium trying to solicit or buy tickets, because tickets are sold out,” Mashaba said. “The selling or buying of tickets from peddlers is illegal.”
To accommodate supporters who could not secure tickets, the Polokwane Municipality has set up an official fan park at the Civic Centre Park, offering a big-screen public viewing experience, entertainment and a safe environment for fans to enjoy the match.

Authorities have urged ticketless fans to use the fan park and avoid the stadium precinct to ensure safety and smooth event management.
