Cape Town City F.C. and Milford FC played out an entertaining 2–2 draw in their top-of-the-table encounter in the Motsepe Foundation Championship at Athlone Stadium, on Tuesday Afternoon.

City made a bright start and opened the scoring in the 8th minute when Emile Witbooi fired the hosts into the lead. The home side continued to apply pressure, with Jaedin Rhodes creating another promising opportunity as City looked to extend their early advantage.

Milford responded just before halftime and equalised in the 44th minute through Bulelani Sigomoshe, ensuring the sides went into the break level at 1–1.

The visitors then took the lead in the 55th minute when Cheswyn Philander scored against the run of play to put Milford ahead.

However, City fought back, with Rhodes producing a powerful long-range strike in the 67th minute to restore parity and set up a tense finish.

Both sides pushed for a late winner, with City coming closest in the closing stages when Witbooi flashed a dangerous ball across goal, but Bezuidenhout was unable to apply the finishing touch.

The result sees Milford FC move back to the top of the standings in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, while Cape Town City remain in third place.

For Milford, it doesn’t get easier, they’ll engage in another top of the table clash when they face second placed Kruger United at home on Saturday, 14 March while Cape Town City next travel to Gqeberha to face 12th placed Highbury on Friday, 13 March.
