AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of the club’s devoted number one supporter, affectionately known as the “Usuthu Queen,” describing her death as a significant emotional setback for the team.
“We were badly affected, to be honest,” Zwane said while addressing members of the media. “The news came at the wrong time, as we received it while preparing for our match against Casric. I wouldn’t say it directly contributed to us not progressing to the next round, but it certainly had an impact on the team.”
Zwane paid tribute to the late supporter, highlighting her unwavering dedication to the club.
“She was one of our pillars, someone who stood by the team through thick and thin. She supported us even in difficult moments and would travel across the country, Cape Town, Gqeberha, East London, wherever we played, she was there. She was spiritually connected to the team.”
He added that her presence brought invaluable positivity to the squad.
“Losing someone of that calibre, who consistently injected positive energy into the team, is a huge blow. It also depends on the stage of the season when such a loss occurs, but we are still struggling to come to terms with it.”
Despite the grief, Zwane acknowledged the inevitability of loss.
“That is the nature of life, and we can only hope that she rests well.”
