Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has outlined the areas he believes need strengthening ahead of the 2026/27 season, revealing that the club is targeting four new attacking signings before the transfer window closes.
Speaking to the media at Kaizer Chiefs Village on Friday, Da Cruz expressed satisfaction with the progress made during pre-season but admitted the squad still requires reinforcements to better execute his vision.
There are four positions offensively,Da Cruz said.
A striker, new wingers and an offensive midfielder. We have good profiles already, but we asked management to get different profiles, so that we can play different football and be less predictable.
The glamour boys head coach is looking to add one attacking midfielder, two wingers, and a striker, believing the additions will provide greater tactical flexibility and improve the team’s attacking threat.
We have a good group of players with the right attitude, but there are still areas where we need to improve,Da Cruz added. We are working closely with the club to identify the right profiles that can strengthen the squad.
Rather than recruiting simply to increase numbers, Da Cruz emphasized that every signing must fit Kaizer Chiefs’ playing philosophy and long-term vision.
AmaKhosi are also expected to oversee several departures before the season begins. DR Congo international winger Glody Lilepo is set to leave the club, while Da Cruz confirmed that midfielder Thabo Cele is not part of his plans. Both players were absent from the club’s pre-season tour of Spain.
The Glamour Boys will continue their preparations with a friendly against Scottland FC on Sunday at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium before kicking off their 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign away to Kruger United on 1 August.
