Stellenbosch FC have strengthened their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season campaign with the permanent signings of forward Ashley du Preez and centre-back Given Msimango from Kaizer Chiefs.
Du Preez returns to the Winelands after four seasons with Amakhosi, where he gained valuable top-flight experience. The 29-year-old, who hails from Idas Valley, previously made 98 appearances for Stellies before earning his move to Naturena in 2022.
His return marks a homecoming for one of the club’s former fan favourites, and he has been entrusted with Stellenbosch’s iconic No. 10 jersey. Du Preez could make his second debut when Stellies host Polokwane City in their opening Betway Premiership fixture on 11 August.

Stellenbosch have also secured the services of experienced defender Given Msimango on a permanent deal from Kaizer Chiefs.
The 29-year-old centre-back arrives with more than 150 professional appearances to his name, bringing leadership and defensive stability to Steve Barker’s squad. Msimango has been allocated the No. 30 jersey and is in line to make his debut against Polokwane City on 11 August.
The two acquisitions underline Stellenbosch’s ambition ahead of the new campaign, with the club adding proven Betway Premiership experience at both ends of the pitch as they prepare to compete domestically and on the continental stage.
