AmaZulu FC claimed a 2-1 victory over Durban City FC in a KwaZulu-Natal derby at Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday evening, with goals from Mlondi Mbanjwa and Athini Maqokolo securing bragging rights for Usuthu.

The visitors made an early statement when Mbanjwa opened the scoring in the seventh minute, giving AmaZulu the lead and putting Durban City under pressure.

Usuthu extended their advantage through Maqokolo, who found the back of the net following an assist from Radebe, leaving Durban City with work to do in the local derby.

Durban City responded in the 74th minute when substitute Domingo pulled one back. Having entered the match in the 69th minute, Domingo made an immediate impact, giving the hosts hope of finding an equaliser.

Despite the late push from Durban City, AmaZulu held firm to secure a 2-1 win and take the bragging rights in this KZN derby.

The result saw Usuthu walk away with all three points, while Durban City were left searching for a way back after falling behind by two goals.
