Chippa United have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season, unveiling several new signings, some with strong ties to the Eastern Cape.
Returning to the club is local fan-favourite Thulani “Scara” Mini, who rejoins after a stint with Stellenbosch FC. Born in Kwazakhele, Gqeberha, Mini has “unfinished business” at the Chilli Boys.

They’ve also snapped up former Cape Town Spurs midfielder Khaya Mfecane, a versatile 24-year-old who can slot into defence or midfield. Hailing from Alice, King William’s Town, Mfecane brings U23 international experience and composure to the spine of the team.

The Chilli Boys have also welcomed Azola Tshobeni, born in Sterkspruit, Joe Gqabi district. The talented multifunctional midfielder joins from Orlando Pirates FC.

They have also signed Thamsanqa “Shaka” Magwaza, a promising winger scouted from Mbizana. His signing signals Chippa’s renewed focus on unearthing local talent.

The Chilli Boys have also signed Orlando Pirates midfield duo of Goodman Mosele and Abdoulaye S. Mariko, on season-long loans.


Rounding of the the arrivals are veteran midfielder, Sammy Seabi, who is returning to the club and Goalkeeper Elson Ayanda sithole


The club’s recent rebuild comes after releasing 18 players during the off-season. With these additions, Chippa aim to hit the ground running when they host Mamelodi Sundowns in their opening league clash.
