Chippa United have confirmed that their August home fixtures will be played outside the Eastern Cape due to scheduled pitch maintenance at their usual venues.
In a club statement released on Tuesday, the Chilli Boys announced that both Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and Buffalo City Stadium will be unavailable throughout August while undergoing maintenance work.
As a result, Chippa’s home clash against Orlando Pirates on 16 August will be staged at the iconic King’s Park Stadium in Durban.
The fixture marks the return of top-flight football to one of South Africa’s most historic football venues, with King’s Park hosting a Betway Premiership match for the first time in several years.
In a statement, the club encouraged fans to secure their seats early, saying:
We encourage supporters to secure their tickets early and be part of this special occasion as elite football returns to a venue that has played a significant role in our nation’s football heritage,the club said in its statement.
The temporary relocation comes as Chippa United adapt to the unavailability of their home stadiums, with the club expected to return to the Eastern Cape once the maintenance work has been completed.
