Stellenbosch FC will begin their 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign under unusual circumstances after being forced to host AmaZulu at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal instead of the Western Cape.
The Maroons had initially planned to host the season opener at home, but a shortage of available venues has left the club with no alternative but to relocate the fixture.
Stellenbosch’s primary home ground, Danie Craven Stadium, is unavailable due to an international rugby tournament being hosted at the venue.
Athlone Stadium was also ruled out as it is currently being used by the New Zealand national rugby team during their preparations for their Test match against South Africa.
DHL Stadium was likewise unavailable, with the Cape Town venue set to host a Currie Cup clash involving the DHL Stormers and the Sharks.
As a result, Stellenbosch will officially be the home side when they face AmaZulu, despite the match taking place at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal.
