Former Banyana Banyana forward Jermaine Seoposenwe has opened up about her retirement and the challenges she faced as a national team player.
Seoposenwe said walking away from football felt “weird” but necessary, admitting that the decision came from a place of peace.
She also didn’t hold back on the ongoing pay issues in women’s football, saying,
“The lack of respect hurt me,” she was talking to Robert Marawa on Marawa Sports Worldwide.
While she bids farewell to the national team, she hopes her journey inspires the next generation.
“My legacy isn’t just goals, it’s the fight for dignity in the game,” she said.
“I don’t want to struggle for things that a national team player deserves. People who know me can see that I’m a shell of myself.” – Jermaine Seoposenwe
Her powerful revelations is another indicator of the work still needed to uplift women’s football in South Africa.
