Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has added prop Ntuthuko Mchunu to his squad as preparations intensify for next month’s Test against Argentina and the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry (RGR) series against New Zealand.
Mchunu, who won his fourth Test cap against Scotland in the Nations Championship earlier this month, joined the squad in Johannesburg on Monday after the Springboks reconvened following a week’s break.
His inclusion takes the size of Erasmus’ training squad to 44 players.
Erasmus is expected to announce his travelling squad for the Test against Argentina in Buenos Aires on Saturday, 8 August, later this week. The selected players and management will depart for Argentina in two groups on Saturday.
The players who remain in South Africa will continue preparations for the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry clashes against New Zealand under the supervision of selected coaches, medical staff, and management at the team’s Johannesburg training base.
