The FIFA World Cup original trophy has arrived in South Africa and was officially received by Cyril Ramaphosa at the Union Buildings in Tshwane. The visit forms part of the global FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour, celebrating footballs impact across continents. The moment also carries historical significance for South Africa, which became the first African nation to host the FIFA World Cup in 2010, reinforcing the countries ability to unite people through sports.

Among the dignitaries who attended the event were Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi, Minister of Sport Gayton Mckenzie, as well as former Bafana players, Aaron Mokoena and Siphiwe Tshabalala. Current Bafana captain, Ronwen Williams was also in attendance.

The trophy will be be at the Nasrec Expo Centre on Saturday 31 January 2026 before Sunday’s final leg in Cape Town 1 February 2026.
