The Suzuki Netball Power Series has officially been launched, with the tournament set to begin on 1 April. The competition will feature the top 30 performing school netball teams, providing a platform dedicated to showcasing emerging talent.
Aimed at school-level players, the series is designed to highlight the best of youth netball while bridging the gap between grassroots development and senior competition.
Tournament organisers emphasised the broader vision behind the initiative, stating:
This series is about more than competition, it’s about creating a clear pathway from grassroots to elite netball in South Africa.
In a significant step for the development of the sport, the series will offer young athletes a competitive environment to gain exposure, sharpen their skills, and attract attention from scouts and higher-level programmes. The initiative reflects a growing commitment to nurturing talent early and strengthening the netball pipeline in South Africa.
Suzuki’s sponsorship manager added:
We are investing in the future of the sport by giving young players a platform to perform, grow, and be seen.
The Suzuki Netball Power Series is expected to feature some of the country’s top school teams, creating an exciting and competitive environment that promotes both excellence and participation. Beyond the matches, the tournament will include mentorship opportunities, development clinics, and structured pathways to help players transition into provincial and national structures.
With netball continuing to rise in popularity, particularly following the success of recent international competitions, the launch of this series comes at a crucial time. It not only celebrates emerging talent but also reinforces the importance of structured development at grassroots level.
